  • Certifications:  the process of verifying an individual has the required competency for a certain occupation. 
  • Designations: an additional credential earned from an organization that typically requires ongoing professional development of practice to maintain.
  • Accreditation: Similar to designations but applied to organizations and their ability to follow a set of recognized quality or professional standards.
