Job Context
Occupation Competence
Each apprenticeship certificate, diploma, or advanced diploma is competency-based, leveraging the knowledge, skills, and behaviours from the National Occupation Classification (NOC) System, Industry & Professional Accreditations, and Employer Guild feedback. This means:
competencies rather then classes make up the training plan;
training directly support certification/accreditation exams;
previous academics informs but does not prohibit starting a training plan; and
training standards map to the National Occupation Classification (NOC) system.
Apprentice Development
Each apprenticeship is supported throughout the training process in a 1:1:1 ratio; the faculty member, the supervisor, and themself. This means:
all three individuals can see, monitor, and support the apprentice training plan;
training units can be ordered and reordered for the workflow of the role;
only training units which are gaps from the intake assessment need to be completed; and
apprentices self-direct their learning schedule and delivery method each week.
Job Context
Each apprenticeship is actively employed full-time (30 hrs./wk. min.) while studying and has a direct supervisor supporting their apprenticeship journey. This means:
apprentices bring current and emerging work tasks and expectations to the studies;
exposure to other roles and occupations within the broader sector;
personalized plans help guide the supervisor in assigning/directing work; and
adjustments to the scope, scale, or timelines of work are not required during study.
